Russel Fields, BASc., MASc., is the President & CEO of WAVETEQ Communications Inc., With 30 years experience in the industry, including 20 years in leadership roles for new companies in both the semiconductor and telecommunications related areas. His experience spans operations, sales, marketing and business development. Russ has proven Sr. Executive, President and CEO leadership capabilities and has implemented highly successful revenue generating models that deliver positive results in both IP licensing and manufacturing. Having held senior roles in 9 start up companies, 3 of which are successful public companies, he has directly relevant experience in building companies from green field ideas to successful, revenue and profit generating organizations. Prior to joining Waveteq, Russ was founder, President and CEO of Tvidia Corp, President & CEO of Mosaid Technologies, VP Operations at SpaceBridge and Chrysalis-ITS and Director of Manufacturing Engineering at PMC-Sierra.

Russ has international business experience gained from the successful negotiation of major IP licensing agreements with major Asian companies and was President of Mosaid Technologies Inc., an intellectual property licensing company.

Having graduated from McGill University with his B. Eng in Electronics, Russ has a very strong technical engineering background with extensive experience in wireless, semiconductor and security technologies. He also has many MBA credits focused on marketing and accounting and underpinned by direct experience.



Jack Van der Star, BAsc., MASc., P.Eng., CTO, EVP is the Founder of WAVETEQ Communications Inc., and has over 30 years of relevant telecommunications industry experience and is a respected communications industry consultant.Jack has been instrumental in the development of WAVETEQ’s versatile easy to use wireless multi-frequency, multi-protocol technology platform.

Jack was CTO for a Milpitas, California based mmWave radio manufacturing company where he was directly responsible for the development of a line of foundry-produced millimeter wave chips and radio products based on these. Jack also holds a video-on-demand patent and participated in the development of the 802.16 standard.

Jack is the Secretary of the Okanagan Partnership - Engineering Advisory Committee which succeeded in having the UBCO engineering school implemented, is a founding director of the Okanagan Valley Research and Innovation Centre (ORIC), an award-winning business incubator and is a Director of the Okanagan Science and Technology Council (OSTEC). In 2007, he was recognized by OSTEC as Innovator of the Year. He also holds a video-on-demand patent and participated in the development of the IEEE 802.16 (pre-WiMAX) standard.

Jack earned his BASc and MASc from the University of British Columbia and is a Professional Engineer licensed to practice in Canada.



Dr. Frank Peabody, BAsc., PHd. is the Chairman of WAVETEQ Communications Inc., and prior to that was the Co-founder and Executive VP of Statpower, a manufacturer of inverters and battery chargers, from 1988 until 1999.  While at Statpower, Frank held various management roles and accomplished a smooth transfer of manufacturing to an offshore Chinese manufacturer, arranged for a joint venture with Tata of India and negotiated a distribution agreement with British Petroleum Solar.  In 1999 Statpower achieved sales of over $45 M and was acquired by Xantrex, a local power electronics company.

In recent years Frank has helped with various companies reach their potential by both becoming an advisor and investor.

With his position as Chairman of the Board with Waveteq, Frank brings extensive management skills, an excellent business acumen, and a knowledge of international markets and manufacturing.

Dr. Peabody has a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from UBC. He was nominated Entrepreneur of the year in 1997.
